August 4, 2026 – The 83rd UCI WorldTour Tour de Pologne rolled out its second stage. This leg set off from Międzyzdroje and finished in Szczecin, covering a total distance of roughly 150 kilometres.
After a high-speed battle featuring breakaway attempts and relentless peloton chases, the stage culminated in a mass bunch sprint once again. Italian sprinter Jonathan Milan of the Lidl-Trek squad carried his dominant form from Stage 1 into Szczecin, crossing the finish line first to secure consecutive stage wins. He remains atop the ORLEN general classification standings.
Stage 2: Aggressive Attacks from the Breakaway Group
Shortly after the neutral start out of Międzyzdroje, the peloton hit full racing speed, and a four-rider breakaway quickly formed. The escapees included Radosław Frątczak (Polish National Team), Dries De Bondt (Jayco AlUla), Anton Schiffer (Visma | Lease a Bike), and Jonas Rutsch (Lotto Intermarché).
The breakaway riders fought hard to extend their gap, yet the main field refused to let them build a substantial advantage, keeping the time difference tight throughout the stage.
Radosław Frątczak delivered a standout performance at the intermediate sprint points, sweeping all three LOTTO intermediate sprints to collect vital points and time bonuses. Thanks to his relentless attacking efforts, he claimed the blue LOTTO Most Combative Rider jersey.
Peloton Takes Control; Breakaway Caught Before the Finish
In the latter half of the stage, the main bunch ramped up its pursuit. With 28 kilometres remaining to the line, the break’s lead had shrunk to only 25 seconds.
As the race entered its closing kilometres, the escapees were gradually reabsorbed by the peloton, with the last straggler caught at the 21-kilometre mark. This set the stage for a full bunch sprint to decide the stage honours.
The run-in to the finish added extra complexity to the sprint battle. Over the final three kilometres, the Decathlon CMA CGM team took control to set the pace, while narrow roadways and tight bends in the closing stretch forced riders to balance raw sprint power with precise positioning.
As the field hit the final straight, teams deployed their sprint trains to jostle for prime positioning. Jonathan Milan navigated through the pack to secure a perfect spot, unleashing devastating acceleration in the dash to the line.
Milan crossed the finish line first to claim his second consecutive stage victory. Paul Magnier of Soudal Quick-Step took second place, while Matteo Malucelli from the XDS Astana Team rounded out the podium in third. Iván García Cortina (Movistar Team) and Daniel Skerl (Bahrain Victorious) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Through the opening two legs of the 2026 Tour de Pologne, Jonathan Milan has emerged as the race’s undisputed standout rider.
He claimed the ORLEN yellow general classification jersey after winning Stage 1 and defended it with another stage triumph on Stage 2. Milan also retains the white Lang Team points classification jersey, establishing himself as the clear favourite in the sprint points battle.

Two successive mass bunch sprints have cemented Jonathan Milan as the headliner of the Tour de Pologne’s opening phase. His pair of stage wins has boosted his stage victory tally and widened his lead in both the overall and points standings.
That said, the Tour de Pologne is far more than a sprinter’s race. As the route heads south through Poland, the terrain grows significantly more demanding, with mountain stages and summit finishes poised to separate the genuine general classification contenders.
Stage 3 is scheduled to roll out on August 5, departing from Gorzów Wielkopolski and concluding in Zielona Góra over a 193-kilometre route. While a mass sprint remains a plausible outcome, the longer stage distance creates greater opportunities for ambitious breakaway riders to stay clear of the peloton.
