After three intense stages, the race moved into its final weekend with the riders tackling the roads of Belgian Limburg before finishing in Leuven. Philipsen delivered an outstanding performance at the crucial moment, retaking the overall lead and eventually holding on to it all the way to the finish.
August 22 | Stage 4: Philipsen Takes a Dramatic Photo-Finish Victory Over Kooij
Stage 4 of the Renewi Tour took place on August 22, starting in Riemst and finishing in Bilzen-Hoeselt over 187.3 kilometers. The route through Belgian Limburg featured numerous short but steep climbs. Although it was not a traditional mountain stage, the repeated climbs and demanding terrain kept the pace high throughout the day. The finish was located on Rode Kruislaan in Bilzen-Hoeselt.
A six-rider breakaway formed early in the race and managed to establish a significant advantage. However, as the finish approached, the peloton gradually increased the pace and eventually brought the breakaway back with around 21 kilometers remaining.
Søren Kragh Andersen then launched a late attack, but his move was neutralized inside the final kilometer, setting up another fast bunch sprint.
In the final sprint, Jasper Philipsen and Olav Kooij fought for victory in an extremely close finish. The result had to be decided by a photo finish, with Philipsen ultimately taking the win by the narrowest of margins. Alessandro Borgo finished third, followed by Dylan Groenewegen and Luca Mozzato.

August 23 | Stage 5: Philipsen Wins Again in Leuven and Secures the Overall Title
The 2026 Renewi Tour reached its final stage on August 23. Stage 5 started and finished in Leuven, covering 183.7 kilometers. The final route incorporated several iconic roads around Leuven and provided one last opportunity for the contenders to fight for both stage victory and the overall title.
With only four seconds separating Philipsen from Berckmoes at the start of the day, the final stage was not simply a battle for the stage win. The overall classification remained open, and Berckmoes still had a realistic opportunity to challenge for the leader's jersey.
The race featured several attacks and breakaway attempts, while the leading contenders remained focused on the overall classification. As the peloton entered the final section of the course, the pace increased significantly and the gap to the breakaway was gradually reduced.
Florian Vermeersch launched an attack in the closing stages, while Berckmoes also tried to put pressure on Philipsen. However, the Belgian sprinter responded to every major move and refused to allow his rivals to establish a decisive advantage.
As the race entered the final kilometers, the remaining breakaway riders were eventually caught. The stage then moved toward another fast finish in Leuven.
Philipsen once again demonstrated his exceptional sprinting power. After covering the key attacks in the finale, he produced a powerful acceleration in the final sprint to take his third stage victory of the 2026 Renewi Tour. Luca Mozzato finished second, while Mike Teunissen took third.
