Paul Seixas: The 19-Year-Old French Prodigy Dominating the WorldTour

Paul Seixas, born on September 24, 2006, in Lyon, France (currently 19 years old),is one of the most promising young talents in road cycling. He currently rides for Decathlon CMA CGM Team(also known as Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team). Standing at 1.84–1.86 m tall and weighing approximately 59–64 kg, he has a slender, lightweight build that makes him a versatile all-rounder, excelling in time trials, punchy climbs, summit finishes, and multi-stage races.
Seixas’ passion for cycling began in childhood about four or five years old, when he watched the Tour de Franch on French television with his grandfather, who never missed a stage. At the age of eight, he joined the local club Lyon Sprint Evolution (LSE), where he quickly began to stand out. Between the ages of 9 and 14, he secured numerous victories across different age categories, laying the foundation for his future career.
In 2021, he moved to Ain and joined VC Villefranche Beaujolais (VCVB). During this period, he claimed national titles in both road and cyclo-cross at the junior level in France. In 2023, at just 16 years old, he joined the AG2R Citroën U19 team and made his debut in junior international competition. He won four races that season and delivered a series of standout performances, including a sixth-place finish at the European Junior Mountain Bike Championships.
In 2024, he rose to global prominence by winning the junior individual time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Zurich. He continued his impressive trajectory with multiple victories in the junior ranks, highlighted by overall victory at the 2025 Tour de l’Avenir.
In his first two professional seasons(2025-2026), Seixas has demonstrated exceptional maturity and competitiveness. The 2026 season marked a decisive breakthrough. He opened the year with his first professional victory on Stage 2 of the Volta ao Algarve (summit finish at Alto da Foia), holding off top contenders like João Almeida and Juan Ayuso, and went on to finish 2nd overall while winning the young rider classification. He followed that with a spectacular solo victory (over 40–42 km) at the Faun-Ardèche Classic. In March, he delivered a sensational ride to finish 2nd at Strade Bianche, behind only Tadej Pogačar.
In April 2026, he claimed back-to-back stage victories at the Itzulia Basque Country: he dominated the opening individual time trial (Stage 1) by a large margin to take the leader’s jersey, then launched a powerful solo attack on the queen stage (Stage 2) to win by over a minute, further extending his overall lead.
