A wheelset can look flawless, weigh remarkably little, and carry an impressive spec sheet, and still fall short where it counts. At UPVINE, we test because quality is something you verify, not something you claim.

Appearance, weight and published numbers describe a wheel at rest. Riding does not: it brings repeated loading, impacts, braking heat, crosswinds and thousands of kilometers of fatigue. These forces act on the wheel as a system, so a rim, hub, spoke or nipple that meets its own specification can still behave differently once laced, tensioned and loaded together.

That is why our process runs from R&D through component testing, system validation, real-world testing and pilot production. Rims, hubs, spokes and nipples are checked for strength, dimensional accuracy, torque performance and fatigue resistance. Complete wheelsets then go through impact, load and durability tests, followed by roller-rig simulation and real riding across varied conditions.

Our goal is not parts that merely meet specification. It is a wheel system that performs reliably, ride after ride.

Our Testing Process

R&D and Design

Every wheelset starts with clear performance targets. We define the design goals, simulate how the wheel will be loaded, and select materials before anything is built.

Component Testing

Rims, hubs, spokes and nipples are tested individually for strength, dimensional accuracy, torque performance and fatigue resistance. A weak part is found here, not on the road.

Whole-Wheel Testing

Once assembled, the complete wheelset goes through impact, load and durability tests. This is where we check how the parts work together as a system.

Real-World Riding Validation

Roller-rig simulations are followed by real riding, to assess stiffness, stability and reliability across varied conditions. Lab data tells us what is possible; the road tells us what is true.

Pilot Production

Before full-scale manufacturing, the process is confirmed in a small production run, so what we validated is what reaches you.

Our goal is not parts that merely meet specification. It is a wheel system that performs reliably.

What We Test

We conduct component-level inspections and testing on rims, hubs, spokes, and nipples before assembly. Each component is evaluated against relevant engineering requirements before the complete wheelset proceeds to system-level verification.

Component Testing

Rims: Coordinate measurement and dimensional inspection help verify geometry and manufacturing consistency. Spoke-hole structural strength is tested up to 4,900 N.

Hubs: Manufactured in our own facility, our hubs undergo mechanical performance and durability evaluation, including 100,000 fatigue cycles. Freehub engagement torque is tested at 180–200 Nm.

Spokes & Nipples: Evaluated for relevant strength, dimensional accuracy, thread fit, and assembly consistency.

Complete Wheelset Testing

After component inspection and assembly, the complete wheelset undergoes further testing to evaluate structural integrity and durability.

Impact Test: Tested at 100 J, stated as 2.5 times the applicable UCI reference level, to evaluate impact resistance.

Simulated Road Test: Tested over 10,000 km under a 70 kg load to assess durability under simulated riding conditions.

Load & Durability Evaluation: Relevant structural and fatigue performance is assessed to help verify the integrity of the complete wheel system.

Our principle is simple: individual components meeting specifications is only the starting point. By evaluating both components and the assembled wheelset, we aim to deliver consistent manufacturing quality and dependable performance on the road.

From Lab to Road

UPVINE combines simulated road testing with real-world riding feedback to evaluate wheelset durability and riding performance.

Real-World Riding Validation

Rider feedback helps assess responsiveness during acceleration, stability through corners, climbing feel, and ride comfort on uneven roads.

By combining controlled testing with practical riding feedback, we evaluate how our wheelsets perform beyond the laboratory.

Built for Reliable Riding

At UPVINE, quality goes beyond individual test results. Precise manufacturing, consistent assembly, and systematic testing work together to deliver dependable performance across every ride.

From component inspection to complete wheelset validation, each stage helps us maintain quality standards and refine our products for real-world riding demands.
